The Serene Azure Bathroom project was in a home built in 2001 in Corinth, TX. Our clients liked the layout of their bathroom, but wanted to transform the “builder-grade” space into something more unique and spa-like.

Our goals were to increase the footprint of the shower while still maintaining space for a bathtub, update the tile and materials according to our clients’ design tastes, and create a light and airy atmosphere with a fun pop of color.

Before, the Serene Azure Bathroom was in shades of beige. It didn’t reflect the same personality that our clients had infused into other areas of their home. While the room was a good size, the shower was small and the the bulky tub deck and surround made the space feel smaller.

To invoke a spa-like feel in the new design, we decided to dedicate the majority of the bathroom color palette to whites and grays. The differing textures of ceramic subway tile, marble hexagon tile, and stone-look porcelain tile added interest while keeping the main colors simple. The blue vanity was a fun, bold color choice that introduced great personality into an otherwise simple color palette. For a final touch, we mixed metals with shiny gold and dark bronze finishes.

We planned to replace the tub with a freestanding model, allowing us to remove the wall between the tub area and shower. This also gave us a bit more space to expand the shower. Board and batten carpentry that tied into the casing around the window was installed around the the bathtub. We further updated the window by removing the blinds and replacing the pane with obscure glass to increase natural light in the bathroom while preserving privacy. We fabricated a custom vanity to maximize storage space and selected a unique quartz remnant for the counter.
