Lakeview Master Bath

BEFOREAFTER

INTRO

Welcome back to our before and after series here on our blog! In today’s post we will walk you through our Lakeview Master Bath project. For this renovation, we transformed an outdated master bath into a refreshing, modern, functional master bath. Join us as we walk through this project together!

BEFORE

Our clients’ main goal for this renovation was to update and brighten the space. The original layout prioritized double vanities over the shower footprint, and the shower was tucked away in a dark corner. Our clients wanted to keep a drop-in tub in the new design, but modernize the shape and tie it into an open and bright shower area. . The monochrome color scheme and dark walls made the space feel overwhelming, and the corner tub didn’t make the best use of the space. The wrap-around mirror added to the visual overwhelm.

With these factors in mind, we wanted to create a space that was more functional and convenient for our clients to use and enjoy for years to come!

DURING

The first thing we wanted to do with this renovation was modify the color scheme. Whereas the former layout included varying shades of brown, we used lighter tones such as greiges, blues, and whites . We chose to use Sherwin Williams Drift Mist for the walls and a marble-look matte porcelain tile (Arizona Tile Themar Ventato Gold) for the bathroom flooring. These lighter tones improved light reflection in the room, making the natural light coming in from the window above the tub even more illuminating.

In order to prioritize a larger shower, we replaced the “His and Hers” vanities with one larger vanity cabinet with a countertop cabinet to help preserve storage space in a smaller footprint. The shower walls were accented with the desaturated blue tones of a handmade-look ceramic tile (Glazzio Quelline – Velveteen Sky) laid in a herringbone design. The Arizona Tile from the main flooring was used in the shower as well. Take special note in our after photos of the tile-in shower drain we installed! We used Schluter Jolly edge trim  in Greige to finish the edges of the shower tile, and we installed  a vertical shampoo  niche under the shower head with a shelf tall enough to fit even salon-size liter shampoo bottles! Our clients wanted the formerly-disjointed tub and shower areas to flow into each other. To achieve this, we extended the quartz tub deck into the shower to double as a bench seat. A

The former shower cave was revived as a makeup vanity nook with two custom mirrored medicine cabinets for storing all the essentials. In addition to the LED recessed can lights we added in the ceiling, we installed a brilliant crystal chandelier over the bathtub and vanity lighting to finish off the new master suite with just a touch of glam.

AFTER

The new layout feels like a completely different space. The single vanity and re-designed bathing area open up the walkway to make the bathroom feel more spacious  than before. The updated  colors and lighting, with the added natural light coming in through the window, really serve to give our clients a radiant, gorgeous new master bath that they can enjoy at the end of another successful day. Our clients’ favorite selection in the new space was the herringbone tile in the shower and the hidden outlet  we installed in the countertop cabinet (perfect for charging electric toothbrushes).

We hope you are as pleased with these results as we are. Perhaps this beautiful space has inspired you to make plans for your own master bath renovation! Wouldn’t it feel great to update your space?
