Mid Mod Blue Bath

BEFOREAFTER

INTRO

The #MidModBlueBath project was designed to fit our client’s fun, eclectic taste. Our client wanted to update this bathroom for her two daughters and give them a space that was equal parts fun and functional. The #MidModBlueBath has to be one of the most unique projects we have worked on and we are excited to share the results with you. Let’s take a look!

BEFORE

The MidModBlueBath was designed with the goal of increasing functionality for our client’s two daughters. Our client has a super fun, mid-century modern design style that we used to build our renovation around.

DURING

Entrance

We replaced the hinged door to the bathroom entrance from the hallway with a barn door for functionality in a small space, but chose a 5-lite door to make the “barn” door style feel more elevated and modern. This coordinated with the 5-panel pocket door leading into the bedroom.

The Bathroom

The cabinetry for the freestanding vanity and linen tower was designed around a console table the client has and loves, including the tapered legs. The goal was for the white oak vanity to look like a freestanding piece of furniture, but we added a recessed toe kick so dust bunnies don’t get trapped underneath it. We used white oak with vertical grain to achieve a teak-like look. Top mount cabinet hardware was used for the cabinetry of both the vanity and the linen tower. We used LED lighted mirrors to give our client’s daughters some extra light during their morning and evening routines.

The highlight of this mid-century modern blue bathroom is the sunburst tile above the vanity. Our clients were inspired by this sunburst tile and we coordinated the tile for shower and shampoo niche according to this striking pattern.

For the main lighting, we went with recessed LED can lights. The walls, ceiling, trim, and doors were all finished in Sherwin Williams Extra White. The floor tile was a 12×24 cement/concrete-look tile. We were able to reuse the clients’ existing Moen faucets. The brushed nickel finish complemented the white porcelain undermount sinks and Blanco Pebble Quartz countertops.

The Shower

We replaced the tub/shower combo with a custom shower to be more functional for our client’s teenage daughters.  This included a sliding shower glass door and one large shampoo niche framed  into the shower wall. We used blue hexagon tile in the shampoo niche and shower floor, and a straight lay white, vertical, rectangular subway tile for the shower walls. Blanco Pebble Quartz was installed on the shower curb and ledge of the shampoo niche to coordinate with the vanity countertop. A tile-in shower drain finished the sleek aesthetic of the shower.

AFTER

After the renovation, this bathroom was transformed into an eclectic yet modern space perfectly fit for our client. We are incredibly proud of this project!
